NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Nine months after we celebrate the Immaculate Conception (December 8), we commemorate the birth of the Mother of God. Although not described in Sacred Scripture, the event has been celebrated by the Church since at least the 6th century.

Did you know?

Only three earthly birthdays are celebrated by the Church (in comparison to the heavenly births of the saints): Mother Mary's, St. John the Baptist's, and Jesus's.

A family tradition...

What a sweet gesture it would be to celebrate Mary's birthday with a dessert and a prayer to her parents, St. Anne and St. Joachim, to our Blessed Mother, and in thanksgiving to God for her who gave us our Saviour.
