Saints Anne and Joachim are the presumed parents of Mary, the Mother of God. Sacred Scripture does not mention them, but they are named in the apocryphal text of the Gospel of St. James. The Church honours Mary's parents, whatever their names, as the couple God chose to raise Mary and as Jesus's grandparents.
Did you know?
Saint Anne and Saint Joachim are patron saints of grandparents.
A family tradition...
On this Catholic "Grandparents Day," reach out to the grandparents in your family's life and pray with them, in thanksgiving for family. Or if this is not possible, reach out to them in love. If you are a grandparent, try to share your faith with your grandchildren, to help them to encounter Jesus in their own lives.
