THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD

Matthew 17: 1-9

Today we remember the mystery of Jesus's Transfiguration. Peter, James, and John accompanied Jesus to (we presume) the Mount of Tabor and witnessed Him in His resurrected glory: "his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them." Jesus was in the company of Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets.

Did you know?

During this miraculous and mysterious event, a cloud came down upon the mountain and God's voice was heard as He spoke to the Apostles who were present: "This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!" This event is echoed in the Old Testament when a cloud came down on Mount Sinai and God spoke to Moses from within it (Exodus 24: 16).
